Most people in Nigeria and Africa as large do not consider being late as a bad habit and just say it is African time. Infact some people will intentionally go late when invited to a meeting or an event as they believe it potrays them as busy or important people. Even entertainers show up late for their own shows and keep people who bought tickets with their hard earned money waiting, some do not offer any word of apology when they eventually arrive and everyone is fine with it.
It is saddening that an habit that young children and teenagers are being punished for on a daily basis is now accepted as a norm in our society.
